His invention won him the prestigious 3M Young Scientist Challenge title and a $25,000 prize.

Behind the Tech: How Pestiscand Works
Pestiscand uses a light-reflection technique to analyze the surface of produce.

The device features a sensor, a processor, a display, and a power source—all of which make it portable, user-friendly, and efficient.
