eneration Z, born between the mid-1990s and mid-2000s, is rapidly taking over the workforce.

As the most tech-savvy and diverse generation, they are changing the work dynamic with their unique skills and work attitudes.

Recognizing the significance of this shift, a new survey has been conducted by Morning Consult and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, showcasing how Generation Z envisions the future of work, their perceptions of skills required for success, the impact of AI on the workplace, and the qualities needed to be a successful entrepreneur.

The Morning Consult and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow survey polled over 1,000 U.S. students aged 16 to 25. The results showed that most Gen Z workers value flexibility and prefer a flexible work schedule over a higher salary.

They also view their workplace as a place for socialization and collaboration, with 51% of respondents saying that working with a team and meeting new people is essential for career success.

This highlights that Gen Z workers seek a more inclusive and collaborative work environment than the traditional hierarchical structure.

The survey also revealed that skills such as adaptability, tech-savviness, and creativity are perceived as critical for their future careers. They value adaptability and creativity as necessary to keep up with the rapidly changing times.

Moreover, 74% of respondents believe employers must provide training opportunities for their employees to upskill in the ever-changing tech world.

As a result, we see the emergence of training and development programs as a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining Gen Z talent.

According to the report, many in the Gen Z demographic expect significant changes in the workplace over the next decade.

Specifically, 58% anticipate increased use of advanced technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, Virtual Reality or Artificial Reality. Additionally, 41% predict growth in remote and flexible work options.

While Gen Z is optimistic about the potential of AI, they also acknowledge the risks it brings, presenting a new level of social responsibility in designing and implementing AI systems in the workplace.

The report shows that the younger generation, particularly Gen Z, has a unique perspective on career paths.

They value diversity and envision a variety of possibilities for their future. Entrepreneurship and creativity are essential to them, with 50% expressing interest in becoming an entrepreneur or starting their own business.

Additionally, 44% are interested in working in the creative arts and media, while 28% are considering a career in a STEM-related field.

They perceive themselves as independent thinkers and Do-it-Yourselfers, bringing the creator economy to an all-time high. Their entrepreneurial spirit reflects their passion for solving problems they see in the world.

Gen Z identifies several vital attributes necessary for success as entrepreneurs. These include a commitment to hard work at 64%, knowing the right people (such as influencers and investors) at 49%, and perseverance through challenging times at 49%.

Personal growth and adaptability are considered essential skills for success, with 47% valuing a willingness to learn, 44% valuing creativity, and 40% valuing leadership and management abilities.

In conclusion, the findings of the Morning Consult and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow survey provide a glimpse into the preferences and expectations of Gen Z in the workplace.

This emerging generation of workers seeks a more flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment, emphasizing adapting to the ever-changing tech world.
