igital tools are now an integral part of our lives, and children are no exception. In fact, given the way technology is evolving, it is fair to say that children cannot do without digital tools these days.
There are many reasons why digital tools are so important for children. For one, they provide a means for children to connect with the outside world. With the internet, children can access a wealth of information and resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them. They can also stay in touch with friends and family members who live far away.
Digital tools also help children develop important skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking. With the use of computers and other devices, children can explore different concepts and ideas, and learn how to apply them in real-world situations.
The learning materials are mostly online- The content children need cannot be limited to books anymore. The internet has a vast amount of learning materials that children can access at any time. This is especially helpful for children who are visual learners or those who learn better through interactive methods. Many schools prefer chrome books over textbooks because the internet provides a more immersive and interactive learning experience.
Teachers are heavily dependent on videos and interactive tools to teach kids- Videos and other digital tools are now being used more frequently in classrooms. This is because they are found to be more effective in teaching children than traditional methods such as lectures and textbooks.
Teachers prefer online forms, PDFs, PPTs, etc. They can be easily shared and accessed by both teachers and students.

This is helpful as it allows children to see where they need to improve. Additionally, it also helps the teacher to keep track of the child's progress. Everything is available on a single platform for the teacher to track
This also makes it easy for parents to stay in touch with the academic progress of their wards.
Online assessments are easy - With digital tools, assessment of children's work can be done easily and efficiently. This is helpful as it allows teachers to identify areas where the child needs to improve. Additionally, online assessment is also less time-consuming and more convenient for both teachers and students.
Digital makes education more accessible like entertainment -
In the past, education was often seen as a chore that had to be done. However, with digital tools, education can be made more fun and engaging. This is because there are now many educational games and apps that children can use to learn. Additionally, digital tools also make it easier for children to access learning materials.
Digital tools help kids to be on the global platform -
With the use of digital tools, children are now able to connect with other kids from all over the world. This is helpful as it allows them to learn about new cultures and experiences. They get to learn what's happening in other places, and they can also share their own culture with others.
Raising Digital Natives-
Today's generation of children is often referred to as digital natives. This is because they are the first generation to grow up with technology. As such, they are very comfortable with using digital tools and devices. Additionally, they are also very proficient in using them.
Digital literacy is important in the modern world -
In the modern world, children need to be digitally literate. This is because many jobs now require the use of digital tools and devices. Additionally, being digitally literate also allows children to better understand and use technology.
Everything is possible online from paying bills to booking appointments to buying clothes and even ordering food.
Digital helps kids go beyond the limited curriculum -
With digital tools, children are no longer limited to the curriculum. This is because they can now access a wealth of information online. Additionally, they can also learn about new and different topics that they are interested in.
Children are getting to learn directly from authors, artists, dancers, and scientists- all from the comforts of their homes.
Even books these days are digital -
In the past, children had to rely on physical books to learn. However, with digital tools, they can now access e-books. Additionally, they can also find a wide range of other digital resources such as articles, videos, and audio files.

With digital tools, children can learn at their own pace. This is because they can choose the resources that they want to use and the order in which they want to use them. Additionally, they can also take breaks when they need to and come back to learning when they are ready.
Children can also rewatch a video or listen to an audio file as many times as they want until they understand it.
Don't get disconnected with kids-
In the past, parents and children often had different interests. However, with digital tools, they can now connect and share their interests with each other. Additionally, they can also bond over shared interests and experiences.
Ask what they are playing, discuss what games they play , let them teach you, and show you how it works. Get to know what friends they have online, and talk to them about online safety.
Setting time for gadgets is very important -
Just like anything else, digital tools should be used in moderation. This is because too much screen time can be harmful to children. Additionally, it is important to make sure that children are using digital tools for learning and not just entertainment.
Set ground rules such as no screens during meal times or an hour before bedtime. Encourage them to spend time outdoors, and to engage in other activities without gadgets
The internet has become an essential part of our lives and there is no denying that it has made our lives easier in many ways. However, it is important to remember that the internet can also be a dangerous place. This is why children need to learn how to use it safely.
There are many ways to teach children about digital safety. One way is to talk to them about the importance of not sharing personal information online. Additionally, you can also set up parental controls on their devices. This will help to ensure that they only have access to appropriate content.
It is also important to teach children about cyberbullying. This is because they may be the target of bullying or they may witness it happening to others. Either way, they need to know what to do if they are ever in this situation.
Children are growing being filmed all the time , with photo and videos being posted of them online by parents. Its normal for kids to be inclined towards what they are used to , and in this case being around digital tools. It is very important for parents to have a healthy relationship with digital devices themselves so that they can be good role models for their kids, and help them use these tools in a positive way.
I think we are in denial if are refusing to accept the role of digital tools in a child's life. It is high time we stop asking whether children need digital tools or not and start asking how best to use them. Parents need to work on being aware of what their children are doing online, set rules and boundaries, and also be open to learning new things themselves. only then can we truly help our children thrive in the digital world.
