met Elodie recently who is world-schooling her kids.
COVID helped Elodie realize that her children were able to continue their education in more interesting ways. Rather than continuing with a traditional school curriculum, they've been traveling around the world and learning through experiences.
Elodie says that world schooling has allowed her kids to gain a deeper understanding of the cultures, history, and languages of different countries, as well as giving them a broader perspective on the world.

How Learning Happens in Worldschooling
Her Kids learn with Boundless Life which is an alternative learning school for world schooling kids. The program helps her kids learn through real experiences and engage in a variety of activities such as volunteering, exploring, researching, and engaging with their local communities while they travel.
Boundless Life offers project-based learning to kids, the classroom size is small and it's inspired by the Finnish education system as Elodie describes.
They stay in a place for 3 months and spend the first month exploring, getting to know the place, and researching their projects. They also volunteer in different communities during this period. Boundless offers personalized academia. Children learn maths, English, Geography, and history as part of the curriculum.
Children have nature time and culture time. This provides them with the opportunity to explore, observe and discover new things while learning.
Worldschooling Focuses on creating life experiences
The focus of world schooling is to create life experiences and help kids become global citizens. Elodie believes that children are making amazing memories, they are learning different languages as they travel which is a life skill to survive in the global world.
It is a great way to challenge children's thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities in real-life situations. They are also learning valuable lessons in leadership and team building as they collaborate with their peers on projects.
Family involvement in world schooling
Elodie believes that family involvement is an important part of world schooling. She spends time researching and planning the trips, engaging in activities with her children, teaching them different life lessons, and documenting their journey along the way.
It has been a rewarding experience for both Elodie and her kids as they have seen amazing places and made lasting memories together.
Is World schooling a great option for like-minded families?
Yes, world schooling is a great option for like-minded families who are looking for a different approach to education. It provides children with the opportunity to explore and experience new places in a safe and meaningful way, she says. It's great to be with families who are excited about learning and exploring together. Elodie shared that families also plan and travel together, which is a great way to develop strong relationships and build values. Some parents also contribute by sharing knowledge, teaching classes, and providing mentorship to the other kids in their group.
How Sustainable is world schooling?
Elodie travels with minimum baggage. She owns two pairs of trousers, 6 t-shirts, and 2 jackets. Her kids know how to keep their things to a minimum. They don't buy a lot of toys and books. They play with cardboard boxes and rather create than consume.
Elodie was not like this before in fact she was in the beauty industry. She has transformed her way of life as she seeks a more meaningful experience. She is trying to be conscious of her choices and help the environment.
The future of work is changing from 9 to 5 to work from anywhere in the world, the kids are learning to be global citizens and how to be creative with their time and resources. This story is to inspire all the families who have dreamed o a life beyond fixed routines and to live a life of purpose.
The rise in remote work and nomads is making this lifestyle more accessible and exciting.
Elodie's advice to others who want to try world schooling is to plan, be organized, and have an open mind. World schooling is not only about travel but also learning new skills, exploring cultures, connecting with people, understanding nature, and self-development. It’s a way of life that will create many experiences and memories that can be cherished for a lifetime.
World schooling is an amazing way of learning and it has helped Elodie's family create meaningful experiences and memories together while they explore different places on the planet. It is a great option for creative and adventurous families who are looking for an alternative approach to education.
