ave you thought if school was not a must-do thing? Maybe you would have more time to spend with friends or family. Maybe you could go outside and play more. From childhood, children are told that it's the only way to get a good job, but what if you don't want a job? What if you want to be an artist or writer?
There are many reasons why a school might not be the best option for everyone. For some, it's simply a waste of time. They see no value in sitting in a classroom and listening to a teacher's lecture. They would much rather be out in the world, learning through experience. Others find the school environment to be stifling and constricting. They feel like they can't be themselves or express their true thoughts and feelings.
And then some simply don't do well in traditional schooling settings. They might have trouble sitting still for long periods, struggle to focus on one task or be easily distracted. For them, the structure and discipline of school can be extremely frustrating.
One of my cousins never like the school, he would cry every time he had to get ready for school, he just didn't feel like it was for him. But there was no option for him, he had to go. He struggled on days they had celebrations in schools or sports days, he just didn't feel like participating. And as he grew up, his performance was affected as well. He just couldn't seem to catch up and do well in school, despite how hard he tried.
It was the same pattern in college as well, his parents paid huge to get him a seat in the college of their dreams, but he just didn't feel like it was the place for him. He would bunk classes, and not do well in the exams. Then COVID came and now everything was online, he was very comfortable attending his sessions online, and in fact, he was doing well. He was getting good grades and his parents were proud of him.
This just goes to show that not everyone is cut out of the traditional school system. And that's okay!

Reasons kids hate school
Children do not like school for many reasons. Their feeling about school may be based on personal experiences, their personality as well as their academic level. When kids dislike school mostly they might give an excuse that might be true or it might just be their way to get out of school.
Some parents feel desperate when their kids do not want to go to school and seek help from a school counselor or parental support groups to help their child cope with school.
A school day might seem like a burden for many students, if parents further push the kids it might depress the kid or push them to loneliness.
When a child hates school it's important to understand what is going on in their minds, help your child instead of lecturing, make children comfortable by talking about it, and if possible consider a psychologist .
It's important to understand children's psyches before blaming them for not liking school. While most people will rush to find a solution to their child's problem without understanding why they don't like school.
1) They are forced to wake up early in the morning- Many students struggle to follow a early school routine Imagine waking up in the mornings when it's still dark outside. It's cold, you're tired and all you want to do is go back to sleep. But you can't because you have to go to school. You have to face another day of lectures, homework, and tests. For many kids, this is their reality every single day. And it's no wonder they hate it!
2) They have to wear uniforms- For many children, having to wear a uniform to school is like being in prison. It's constricting and uncomfortable. It takes away their individuality and expression. And let's be honest, most kids hate looking the same as everyone else. There can be other reasons why kids don't like wearing uniforms. Some may feel embarrassed or self-conscious about their body shapes and sizes when compared to other students.
3) They have to sit in classes all day long- For kids who are used to running around and playing outside, sitting in a classroom for hours on end can be extremely boring. It's no wonder they struggle to pay attention and often get into trouble. Imagine kindergarten kids who are supposed to sit for hours on end and not move around. This can be too much for them and it's no surprise that they start misbehaving or losing focus in class. If a child is feeling tired in class he/she cannot learn much anyways.
4) They have to do homework every night- Homework is the bane of every child's existence. It's tedious, time-consuming, and often difficult. It's no wonder they dread it so much.
The forced homework every night is another reason why kids hate school. It takes away valuable free time and leaves them feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. For some children, it also means staying up late at night to finish their assignments - not an ideal situation for growing kids who need more sleep! The homework time steals the freedom of free play and learning.
5) They are constantly being tested- From spelling tests to math quizzes, children are constantly being tested in school. The constant evaluations can be a reason behind their low self-esteem. Teachers and parents might make them anxious by constantly forcing them to do well. The pressure to get marks can make them extremely anxious and they feel like they are under pressure to perform well. This lack of interest can lead to even more stress and a sense of failure if they don't do as well as expected.
6) They are surrounded by bullies- Unfortunately, bullying is still a big problem in many schools. And it can make going to school a nightmare for some children. Imagine the fear of going to school every day and being scared of someone picking on you or making fun of you. Children will lose interest in learning if bullying is common in schools. It can be a real headache to face a bully every day.
7) They are never allowed to just be kids- In school, children are expected to behave like miniature adults. They have to sit still, be quiet and raise their hands to speak. But sometimes, all they want to do is just be kids and have some fun. But on the other side, they are taught to be listening to someone who is speaking in front of the class, which can be very boring for some children.
8) They have to deal with mean teachers- Every child has had a teacher that they didn't like. And while most teachers are kind and caring, sometimes some teachers can be too strict giving punishment to kids and thus kids end up hating the school. It might make them feel helpless and they will hesitate to share.
9) They miss their friends and family- For many children, going to school means being away from the people they love. They miss their friends and family and often feel homesick. Children might have to miss some family functions and festivals. When children get to see very less of their family they lose their social skills.
10) They are just not ready for it- For some children, starting school is just too much, too soon. They might be dealing with other issues in their life, such as a divorce or the death of a loved one. Or they might just not be developmentally ready for the challenges of school. Whatever the reason, starting school can be a big adjustment for some kids. And it's no wonder they hate it. There is nothing exciting about the monotonous way of life in school when the learning is not interactive. Too much cognitive overload can daunt kids. Tough Mathematics and science can be other reason kids don't feel ready.
11) Their eating becomes forced - Children are forced to finish their breakfast or lunch within a few minutes. They are not allowed to take their time and chew their food properly, which can lead to indigestion. I am guilty of forcing food down my son's throat when he was younger, thinking that he would get hungry later in the day. But now I realize that it is important to let children eat at their own pace.
12) They are not allowed to use the restroom when they need to This is a big one, especially for younger children. They are often not allowed to use the restroom when they need to, and this can lead to accidents. I remember being in first grade and having to hold it all day because the teacher would not let us go to the restroom. It was torture!
13)They have to face the traffic - Many children have to travel long distances to reach their schools. This means dealing with traffic, pollution, and often, dangerous drivers. Little kids sleep on the bus while going to school, they are mostly carried by their parents.
14) They get sick often - Schools are breeding grounds for germs and diseases. With so many children in one place, it's no wonder that illnesses like the flu and chickenpox spread like wildfire. Children who are already sick often have to go to school because their parents can't afford to take a day off work.
My son used to pick up every cold and flu that was going around, and it was torture watching him suffer. I often wished that he could just stay home and rest when he was sick, but that wasn't always possible.
15) They are never taught how to deal with failure - In school, children are often only rewarded for getting good grades. But in the real world, failure is a part of life. And learning how to deal with it is an important lesson that many children never learn in school.
16) They are never allowed to make mistakes - In school, children are often punished for making mistakes. But in the real world, making mistakes is a part of life. And learning from them is an important lesson that many children never learn in school. From missing to bring books to school to forgetting homework at home, children are scolded and often humiliated in front of their classmates for making mistakes.
17) They are always being judged - In school, children are constantly being judged by their teachers and classmates. If you are not smart enough you are labeled a slow learner, if you are not good at sports you are called a nerd or geek.
18) They have to take medication- Some children have to take medication for ADHD, allergies, or other conditions. And while this is important, it can also be a hassle. Children are sent to therapies if they can't sit in a place for a long time or if they are fidgety. They might be called names by their peers for taking medication.
19) They have to take a bus to school- For some kids, taking the bus to school is a nightmare. They have to deal with bullies, getting lost, or missing their stop. It's no wonder they dread it so much.
20) They might be struggling to make friends- For some kids, making friends in school is hard. They might be shy, or they might not fit in with the other kids. Whatever the reason, it can be a struggle to make friends in school.
21) They might have special needs which are not being met by the school- Some children have special needs which are not being met by the school.
22) Some children suffer to fit in When children are not able to match up with their friend's status, they feel low and might get bullied. Peers can be very harsh at times. Some kids are picked on for being poor, others for not having designer clothes or the latest gadget.
My friend's son would be unsatisfied with his life and he would pick up a fight with his mother whenever she denied something that he wanted but couldn't have. He would get extremely agitated if his friends had something that he didn't. It caused a lot of stress in their family.
23) They face racism and discrimination- Unfortunately, racism and discrimination are still alive and well in our schools. Children of color or from immigrant families often face discrimination from their classmates.
24) They might be struggling with their identity- For some kids, figuring out who they are is a difficult and confusing process. They might not feel like they fit in with the other kids at school.
Some kids pick up an accent or start dressing differently to fit in with their peers. This can lead to a lot of confusion and stress for the child.
25) Schools puts the kid in a parallel artificial world - In school, children are often shielded from the realities of the world. They learn about history, but they don't learn about current events. They learn about science, but they don't learn about the environment.
26) Children are far away from learning the skills they need - The job market is constantly changing and evolving. But schools are not keeping up with the times. They are still teaching children outdated information that is not relevant to the real world.
27) Children with unique talents are not given opportunities to explore and enhance them - There are many children with unique talents and abilities. Like if someone wants to take a particular skill like cooking or music but their school doesn't have the resources to support it, then that child's talent goes to waste.
28) The wait to be successful is too long - In school, children are often told that they need to wait to be successful. They need to get good grades, go to college, and then get a good job. But the reality is that many people never achieve this level of success.
These are some of the reasons why I think children have a tough time at school. It's important to remember that every child is different and that not all children will have the same experience. But if your child is struggling, you must think about why this might be and how you can help them.
While some parents might say that it's not possible to school kids at home with their jobs, it's important for them to know that they have choices now, and it's worth exploring all the options to see what might work best for their child and family. There are many alternate ways of schooling now available and each has its own set of pros and cons. You just need to do your research to figure out what is best for your child. You should not bother what others think about it, Don't try to explain to others, instead find ways to solve your problem. Don't repeat the same mistakes your parents made.
" I Don’t Want To Go To School. I Hate School I’d Rather Do Anything Than Go To School"- From Calvin and Hobbes
Alternate like school for those who do not like school -
Many parents have understood that education is not equal to school and they are pulling their kids out of school if they have trouble learning. Many kids are constantly making excuses parents need to understand what's wrong.
If children do not get enough sleep their thinking ability will be compromised, and parents need to find out why they force kids to get good marks. Is it their own trauma from childhood?
Every kid has different reasons to refuse to go to school, we need to learn and try to find what is the issue. Children will fake their feelings if we criticize them too much.
There are ways parents are choosing to disrupt the schooling system, so don't get frustrated as a parent. You have choice to skip long hours of school with these options below. Don't
1. Homeschooling - In this type of schooling, the child is educated at home by their parents or a tutor.
2. Online schooling - This is a newer option that is becoming more popular. In this type of schooling, the child takes all of their classes online. T
3. Charter schools - These are public schools that have more flexibility in their curriculum and teaching methods. This can be a great option for children who are struggling in school or who have special needs
4. World schooling- Parents choose to travel with their children and educate them as they go. This is a great option for families who want to see the world and learn about different cultures.
5. Unschooling- Parents decide to completely go to school free and the child is free to learn whatever they want when they want.
Alternate ways gives the opportunity to children to find their own path.
The idea is to try alternate pathways to traditional schooling and see if it works better for your child. Do not feel like you have to do what everyone else is doing. Every family is different and what works for one, might not work for another. Just do what is best for your child and don't be afraid to try something new.
There are various aspects of school that can create stress and unhappiness for children. From feeling judged by their peers to have too much homework, there are many reasons why kids don't like school. But it's important to remember that not every child is the same and some may even love going to school. If a situation might come up where your child starts disliking school, try to talk to them openly and understand what might be going on.
