ailures are often seen as setbacks, but at EducationNext, we believe they are stepping stones to success when accompanied by self-awareness, learning, and support.

Recently, Adi and I had the privilege of working with a young entrepreneur who epitomized the spirit of perseverance, despite facing several hurdles.

The Story of a Determined Dreamer

Three years ago, this individual took an 11 lakh loan to turn his dreams of building a business into reality. Over time, he initiated 4-5 ventures, each with great enthusiasm, but none succeeded.

Determined not to work under anyone, he made several decisions—some bold, some impulsive—that eventually led to financial strain.

To recover his losses, he had to take a low-paying job, a decision that crushed his confidence further. When we met him in Howrah, India, his entrepreneurial spirit was dimmed, but not extinguished.

How We Helped

We spent several days with him, understanding his story, analyzing his failures, and identifying the patterns that caused these setbacks.

It wasn’t just about pointing out what went wrong—it was about empowering him to take ownership of his narrative. Here’s what we did:

Counseling Through Failures
Adi and I had heartfelt conversations with him about embracing failures as lessons, not just mistakes. Sharing examples of individuals who succeeded after numerous failures helped him feel less alone.

Confidence Building
One key aspect was rebuilding his self-esteem. Encouragement and genuine acknowledgment of his resilience were the first steps toward restoring his belief in his potential.

Documenting the Journey
We helped him create an Instagram channel, where he openly shares his journey—failures, lessons, and plans for the future. It’s a platform to connect with others who might resonate with his struggles, and perhaps, inspire them to persevere as well.

Identifying Patterns and Mistakes
Together, we documented all the mistakes he repeated across ventures—poor planning, impulsive decisions, and inadequate market research. This exercise gave him clarity on what to avoid in his future endeavors.

Why Sharing Failures Matters

In a world obsessed with success stories, we encouraged him to own his failures and speak about them openly. Failure isn’t just the opposite of success; it’s a prerequisite for growth. Sharing his journey can serve as a beacon of hope for others facing similar struggles.

Future Plans

Armed with 6-7 years of experience in food stall and restaurant startups, he’s now on a mission to rebuild his career. With his newfound confidence and clarity, he’s looking for work opportunities that allow him to leverage his experience while he works on a new sustainable business plan.

What You Can Do

If you’re reading this and believe in the power of second chances, here’s how you can help:

  • Opportunities: He’s looking for work in the food and hospitality industry. If you know someone in Howrah or nearby areas who’s hiring, let us know.
  • Support His Channel: Follow and engage with his Instagram journey to amplify his story and encourage him further.
