Journey to Deschooling

She had a typical life in Africa with her kids in school but COVID helped her realize how schools were not doing great with technology and her kids were losing interest. On the contrary, there was highly engaging learning material on their apps and websites. That is when the idea of worldschooling clicked and she decided to take her kids through a journey of deschooling. Angela started researching ways to make this journey successful for her children.

She realized that traditional schooling was not enough for them, so she tailored their learning style to include new forms of technology, such as apps, websites, and online courses.

Creating a unique learning environment 

Angela was able to create a unique learning environment for her kids where they can explore different cultures and gain new skills without the restrictions of a classroom setting. She started her hunt for like-minded communities, they visit museums, and they learn on the road.

Learning While Travelling

The kids were asking amazing questions and that assured her that she was on the right path, her kid asked that in cold places trees don't have leaves so how are they making oxygen? Angela was proud to see her kids’ curiosity and their urge to learn.

Kids do research before traveling, they plan the trip and explain why they are visiting a particular place. They use different websites, apps, and YouTube videos to learn more about the places they visit and the locals.

Her daughter recently took interest in reading, and she loves to read things that interest her.

Resources for Learning

The kids are learning different languages like Spanish, French, etc. They attend Spanish camps to learn the language. They read about the culture they are visiting like recently they have taken interest in Greek and Roman Mythology. For learning maths, they use online courses and they read from Book apps. Angela has realized that digital learning has a lot of potentials.

Angela says that Digital Nomads have always been there it's just that now more and more people are realizing that it can be done with families. Before people thought that staying nomad was only possible when you didn't have a family, but now people are traveling the world with their families.

The secret of her world schooling life 

• She believes in forming communities and making friends on the road.
• Helping kids find their own way of learning
• Researching for resources
• Flexibility, things won't always work as planned so believes in accepting the change and being flexible
• Making sure that kids are enjoying the process of learning
• Building a strong relationship with her kids
• Enjoying the moments, Angela says it’s important to enjoy every moment as it won’t come back.
• Most importantly, staying positive and never gives up on her dreams even when things get tough.
  

Integrated Parenting

Now, we understand that when parents plan to world school their work life also needs to adjust. Angela says that she is in a fortunate position where she has the choice and flexibility to work from anywhere with a digital nomad style of life.

Angela does integrated parenting which means that she has a balanced lifestyle where her career and family come together. She believes that technology can be used to bring both of these aspects together. Technology helps make it easier for parents to take their kids with them while they travel and work.

Learning Challenges 

Although worldschooling is amazing and has a lot of benefits, it does come with some challenges as well. Angela says that there is travel fatigue and adjustments that they need to make in terms of language, culture, and food.

This has been Angela's journey to Worldschooling and she is proud of what her kids have learned so far. They are developing a global perspective and understanding different cultures, something which cannot be taught in any normal school setting. Her experience as a Worldschoolimg mom has been truly rewarding.

She credits the success of her family to proper planning and continuous learning with love and patience. She believes that if you are passionate about something, then nothing can stop you from achieving it. With her kids, she has realized that when we give them freedom, and guidance and nurture their curiosity

The world is going towards life-centric learning and Angela has been a pioneer in this. She is exploring, learning, and testing new things every day and encourages other parents to not just be onlookers but also become participants in their kid's learning journey.

Angela believes that Digital Nomads have the power to create a meaningful life for themselves and their children and that world schooling is going to become more popular in the future with many families choosing this as an option.

World schooling has been beneficial for Angela and her children in more ways than one. They are developing a global perspective, learning new languages and cultures, making new friends along the way, and traveling to different countries.
